Choosing the Right Fence Material

What holds up in Montgomery County soil and weather, what it costs, and how much care it needs.

Montgomery County is a mix of sticky clay in some neighborhoods and loose, sandy soil in others — sometimes on the same street. Add long humid summers, heavy spring rains, and the occasional tropical storm, and material choice matters more than it does in drier places. Wood needs sealing to stay ahead of moisture. Metal needs a good powder coat to resist rust. Posts need the right depth and backfill for the soil they're sitting in.

Below are the six materials we install most often. Each page covers how it looks, how much upkeep it takes, and where it lands on cost, so you can narrow things down before we meet.
